LA Fires

Explore Topanga’s insights on LA fires and their impact on sustainability. Uncover strategies for resilience and recovery amid environmental challenges.

14 Jan 2025

The Los Angeles fires that started on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 have affected tremendous personal loss on members of the Topanga Team and the communities that these team members call home. It will take years to approach recovery for those affected and it is the unfortunate reality that recovery will never be realized by many. While the following are drops in the bucket for what is needed, Topanga.io will be contributing to the Los Angeles Fire Department and encouraging team members to contribute three work days of their time to support in recovery.

I grew up in Pacific Palisades and spent much of my time outside surfing Topanga. It’s the place we take our dogs to hike each week and our favorite spot for fish tacos on a Saturday. When Page, Max, and I started Topanga.io we named the company after the bucolic enclave on the edge of the urban goliath that is Los Angeles. It was, and is, our belief that people can both enjoy the conveniences afforded by a density of products and services and do so in a way that doesn’t exact an undue cost on the providers of those things and the world within which they are consumed.

At Topanga.io, we are technology and climate optimists. We believe that human innovation has a strong track record of building solutions to problems that enable us all to live more fulfilling lives with fewer compromises. While we are committed to building just these solutions in the food service world, we know there are others like us who will push forward solutions in construction, urban planning, and disaster defense. It is not that people can’t or shouldn’t live in the areas affected by these fires. It is that doing so sustainably requires technologic innovation. Of course, innovation like recovery will take time and investment.

We’re proud to be an LA based company. Please join us in contributing to the efforts below to aid in recovery and follow us as we highlight innovators in the LA area that bring forward preventative solutions in the years to come.

Stay strong LA ❤️,

Adam Bailey, Co-Founder
